hi all,
I tried a couple of months back to switch my current account from intelligent finance to first direct. I was told that intelligent finance was not part of the current account switch service. does anyone know if this is correct? as you may be aware intelligent finance is essentially being wound down and I am keen to switch but having to contact all my direct debit people etc manually to switch is an absolute pain.
any thoughts

I believe FD offer a partial switch service. This will have two issues though:
1. You won't get a switching incentive (if that was your plan), and
2. You've no protection if anything goes wrong with the DDs (like you have with a full switch using the CASS).
For that reason, I'd open the FD account and sort the DDs out myself.0 -
my other thought was if any of lloyds group may be easier to switch to, again I probably wouldn't get any incentive payment0

hi Colsten , no all I want to do is switch to a bank that isn't essentially being wound down, with the minimum of hassle (not having to contact all my direct debit people etc individually etc). also ideally a bank with an app0

But...and I say it again...switching this way can be a recipe for disaster, especially if you have a lot of DDs. And you must have a lot, otherwise you'd be happy to contact a couple or three yourself...at a time best suited to you. That way, you'd ask the originators (especially those for credit cards) at the optimum time in the statement cycle.
I'd strongly suggest making the arrangements yourself, rather than having Nationwide/FD et al 'post the form and forget'!
If your credit file is damaged as a result of a failed DD, you have absolutely no recourse if using a partial switch service.0
