Morning all
Thanks for the thread Holly, hugs to all those in need especially karcher.
CHS has been dropped at work, I'm collecting him at 1:30. It's frosty and misty here this morning, Dumpling my nan used a mangle too, a huge monstrosity it was.
We will go for a trip out this afternoon if the weather stays fine, I don't know how far we will go, it depends where we can find to moor, we will stay over night and come back Sunday afternoon.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning everyone, will sneak in quietly amongst all the early risers / non sleepers as just had a lovely lie-in!
Bright and sunny here today, yesterday was lovely and we must have had a lot of sunshine as our solar lights in the garden were still glowing when I went to bed.
Lulu was a little star yesterday and behaved impeccably, she is a more stressful horse than my old boy Bill and takes her confidence from her handler so am more aware of the need to keep calm myself.
The lasagne last night was yummy and have enough left for lunch today, depending on how full we are will either just have an omelette or will make some bean burgers.
Gers another fan here of the lovely JW, will always try and catch his show on Sunday afternoon if I can. Get well wishes for your DM,
Hey Karcher good to see you.
More get well wishes for AOD
Enjoy James ladies, he was my Mum’s favourite, after Dad of course!
Have a good Saturday folks x0 -
Good morning chums Wow AOD thanks for the info The Edwardian tea rooms sound right up our street We definitely do tea rooms
looks like there is lots to do and no doubt my friend June will sort out the itinerary for us.
She has spent a bit of time in Brum as her OH comes from there, so it will help with the directions She is my navigator. The CS sould brilliant as well and we definitely don't do posh .:)
Last year when in Lancashire we went to Alderly Edge (just for a shufti you understand ) and the CS there had to be seen to be believed Dress's at £45-50 quid In a CS !!!! but it was nice to se how the other half live ,even their CS's were pricey
I remember going to a very 'naice tea rooms' a couple of years ago in Buxton I think it was, and it was upstairs and filled with ladies of a certain ageeating cake and drinking tea, complete with cocked little finger :)s and we half expected Alan Bennett to pop in It was that sort of tea room
:):) Very art deco and 1930s
but we loved it as it was like being in a different era.
Anyone been watching the 'Back in Time for Tea' on TV I think the family are lovely, and the little boy is so cheerful, and the girls are great and willing to try anything.Nice to see such a happy family who aren't bemoaning all the time about things.I'm not too sure about cow heel pie though ,but they seemed to enjoy it.
Nelski this Saturday morning drool over Mr Martin must cease this minuteits not good for your blood pressure
:):) ...although he is rather dishy, good looking, and can cook ,what a combination. He did a programme ages ago on TV about how to make NHS food in hospitals better and it was really interesting.
Eldest DD is flying home tonight from NYC ,fingers crossed, as they have heavy snow forecast today out there.
This morning I was up and about quite early and was in the shower by 7.00 at 7.05 we had a power cut for some reason and no electricity at all until 8.00. So not a happy old lady with no cuppa until then ,and couldn't dry my hair either. But thankfully its back on again, that's the second time this week we have had a power cut locally Bit like going back to the 1970s
Right this mornings plan is to get the ironing out of the way so I can put my feet up and relax with mindless TV and my knitting this afternoon.
I enjoy Any Questions on the wireless after lunch first though (I tend to shout at some of the panelists )I know they can't hear me but I find some of them talk such drivel (mostly the politicians).
Hope everyone has a good day,sun is out and shining here in Kent and looks quite springlike outside. I am hoping all is well in Mexico City as my niece lives out there and they have had a bad earthquake yesterday, I have messaged her but not received a reply just yet
Take care chums and keep warm and dry if you can

Morning all
Its a beautiful bright day here with a sharp frost this morning but its melting now. I have a wash on with my work clothes and I will hang it out for a while today.
OH is going to put the new taps on the bath and sink today which will make life easier and we have to go and do some shopping.
Im going to go to M & S and see if the meal deal is still on as my work friend had a lovely meal the other night.
A dog walk is on the cards later on and an afternoon nap and maybe a film, tonight it will be hopefully a meal deal and wine
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning ((((((((((Hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
It was quite bright early on, but its looking very grey just now, if it rains we will not be able to get out for our walk. OH will not be happy.
I had another bash with the car yesterday, we were coming back from a friends and there was a Manitou in front of us, the road was clear, I indicated and moved out to over take him, half way along he decided to wander into the middle of the road, biff, bosh, bash.......just the wing mirror, but I was really cross. Took the car to the garage, Tuesday before they can do anything about it. I will have to put a bag over it, so if it rains no water can get into the electrics, and do them in as well. Thankfully I do not think I will need the car before then.
No idea whats for supper, OH is still being very picky, although the fish, chips and peas went quick enough last night. I have taken a shoulder of lamb out for tomorrow, will stuff it with garlic and leave it marinading in some red wine till tomorrow.
I was surprised when they weighed OH at the hospital, he does not seem to have lost much weight despite being in bed and eating much smaller meals.......0 -
ancientofdays wrote: »Morning all. I'm a bit tired as I woke myself up sneezing at 3 and got up as I didn't want to disturb Sir Grumpalot. He gets quite ratty if I wake him, which does happen as I am a restless and wriggly sleeper. He's just got up.
I was very sceptical, and couldn't for the life of me see how it would help, but I have soap in the house anyway, so I didn't need to shop specially, and in desperation I put a tablet of Mr LW's 1mperial L£ather his side of the bed, on top of the mattress and underneath the fleecy underblanket so that it wouldn't be a horrible hard lump there.
I know it's early days and may yet be just coincidence, but in the ensuing time, his fidgeting has reduced by about 95%.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Good morning everyone. I have finally swept and washed my kitchen floor. I was forced into it because I dropped a tin of tuna in oil onto it. Yuk! I hate that floor with a passion. it is black tiles and shows every breadcrumb etc.
Drove into town yesterday. Printer ink and water filters plus new glasses made for a very expensive morning but did meet a couple of friends for coffee and it was good to catch up. Will pay Mr T a visit shortly but have £6 voucher and don't need all that much. No cooking tonight as I cooked double yesterday.0 -
Thank you for reminding me LW, I keep my nice soap in the bedroom so I'll put some in the bed, perhaps under my pillow.
JackieO I have been watching Back in Time for Tea and enjoying it very much, though I'd perhaps have liked some of the 'years' to last a bit longer, especially 1951 when I was born. Waiting for the next episode now. I have eaten steak and cow heel pie. My ex was from Lancashire and was very fond of it and I was given it once but not told what it was until afterwards. It is no use trying to describe it, it was so many years back that I can't remember.
I'm too germs for my friend today I'm going to have a hot bath. I'm full of vitamin C, multivitamins and evening primrose oil.
I must tell you ladies, do not eat mushy peas. Not if you are hoping to keep the romance in your relationship.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Hello all
Still awake but just had an earthquake . By all accounts it was a 4.2 and the epicentre was near Neath / Swansea. I felt the sofa shake and heard a rumbling sound but Mr Fix It was oblivious. Good job DD texted about it as I thought I was hallucinating ! Apparently it was felt from the south of England to the West Midlands.
Will get cracking on the tarts now as I have already semi cooked the fruit.
Think I will try to stay awake and then have an early night in the hope of less coughing.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Thanks for starting us off nmlc.
Nannywindow hope the nose bleed was only a short one. Last year my DH had 3 or 4 bad nose bleeds within the space of a couple of weeks & one of them lasted about 4 hours:eek: It terrified the life out of me!!!128553; but he was quite blas! about it for the first 2 hours! He was lucky enough to get an emergency appointment at the Dr’s who packed his nose. Apparently when he was at school he used to have regular nose bleeds hence the blas! attitude:o Then they stopped & this time around they stopped as suddenly as they had started - really weird!
JackieO, I hope you have managed to get in touch with your niece & that she is OK.
HH, re your indecisiveness, how about numbering the books then rolling a dice?
Deleted_User, hope you are alright & it was just the car that got injured.
It is nice & sunny here on the IoD & if I had a washing line I would find something to wash just so I could hang it out:rotfl: Up all night watching the Olympics - had about 1.5 hrs sleep on the sofa. Woke up 8:30 & had a lovely cup of tea, then cleaned my ovens having finally remembered how to remove the inner glass:T. How on earth does it get so dirty between the two glass bits of the door:huh:
Our milkman turned up for payment - he was most surprised that I was paying him for two weeks (couldn’t find my DH’s wallet:( so I had to pay) as usually we miss him & end up paying him for six weeks. I know having a milkman is not very MSE but it is very OS. I do miss the glass bottles though:(
Woke DH up about 10:30 with a& a cup of coffee & his instructions for the day:rotfl:
Had a cursory sort through of my jewellery chest & the cs will get several bits of costume jewellery plus a ‘silver’ hinged bangle type bracelet (it was always a bit tight & fiddly to get on:(). Two more large sturdy carrier bags ready for cs.:j
Our neighbour, who works in Europe, knocked on the door enquiring about the cost of the new fence (his side) & what he owed DH for the gardening work - talk about hard work convincing him that no payment was necessary - in the end we settled on when he is home for more than 1.5 days he could buy us a drink:)
Just seen our girls win Gold & Bronze in the Skeleton:j
Distracted again (been trying to write this post for 2 hrs:o) - DH needed my help putting stuff in the attic.
Bit of cooking/baking & hoovering next.
Have a great rest of the day everyone.
