Strange phone call from a DCA

I received a phone call form a Preston number (01772514514) a few hours ago, they didnt give their name or why they were calling but wanted my address. I didn't give them it because they would not identify themselves. I done some searching on this forum and aparently they are RMA from Preston.

Now I'm trying to figure out what I might owe since I don't have credit cards, loans or a mortgage :/

Now I really am not too concerned by this but my biggest problem is that the number they phoned me on will automatically hang up on me when I try to phone them back.

Has anyone else had any dealing with them? or do you know how to get in touch with them?

Thanks,
Alan

    Hi

I am not a specialist on the relationship between the various debt collection companies but it is not unusual for several linked companies to operate from one address.

What ever is going on, I suggest that you do not phone back, but wait for those who know their way round the system and then write to the company.

If it proves to be RMA, you are going to have an interesting time and need as much advice as possible before you contact them.

I'm the proud owner of two letters from RMA asking for my address!!?? I wonder how they thought the letters got to me - strange days!
  • Well that's all sorted, apparently two years ago when I was in a rented flat I was paying Scottish southern for my electricity. At some point powergen had taken over my account without me knowing so they sent me a bill after I left the flat (obviously not knowing anything about it). Phone PG up and they cancelled the debt after seeing the conflict.

Just hope they contact the collectors before I get anything put on my credit report :(

Also it wasn't RMA, I can't remember who it was because the woman talked too quickly but I took advice from this forum and asked for them to send me a letter confirming the debt etc.

    Thanks!,
