Mr Pickup - Court case - Rights of Audience

Hello all.

I was in court today for a case with a parking company, my defence was ready but unfortunately the court ran out of time so the case got adjourned (along with a handful of other cases)

I was going to be up against a Mr Pickup, now i thought that name sounded familiar and i saw that he didn't have rights of audience.

I can see how to challenge this next time this is in court, but i want to make sure its the right person and not look stupid in front of a judge.

Does he have a first name and where does he practice?no point me being on the back foot if i have got the info wrong.

He told me that he was a qualified barrister, but the closest matching name on the BSB was called to the bar in 1976 and is a QC, and Mr Pickup certainly doesn't look that old, and I very much doubt a QC would be getting their posterior regularly handed to them on a plate over parking tickets.

Out of the courtroom though he's actually a decent enough chap to talk to, and over lunch I got the impression that he is the LPC/SCS whipping boy with case allocations.

But he gets paid, win or lose, so seemed somewhat indifferent to his track record.

LPC Mr Pickup is late 30's, dark hair and beard and seems to pop up everywhere, but I recall he is from the Manchester area?

You can be a "barrister" which is someone who has passed the Bar Council exams but has no chambers. Places at chambers are few and far between,

He appears to be exactly the sort of person the Bar Council warning is aimed at - so aim.

I would say he looked in his 30's to me
