Yes, means testing for SP seems a far more likely prospect to me than two codgers destroying society and the financial system within 24 months. For what it is worth, while introducing such measures is political, I do not think it a particularly left or right type of policy. For instance last year the conservative government of Australia made means testing for pension entitlement more stringent, recouping $2.5B. I for one do not see a state pension as my right, or an accrued benefit that can not be touched. I realise many or most in the UK do. For the purposes of long term planning I assume I will not receive one. Close to retirement I will refine the assumption. Back to the tense of the OP, we all make our assumptions and hold our political views and should invest in accordance with those. Put your money where you mouth is, or is it your mouth where your money is?0
