Am in the process of finding a new supplier for my Gas and Elec.
living in Bedford, 4 bed modern detached with wife & 2 teenagers(Gulp!) usage of 19240kwh for Gas & 5160kwh for Elec annually(Gulp Gulp!! lol)
Currently with Iresa flex4 fixed 12mth ending mid march.
MSE comparison is showing Tonik as the cheapest at £1264pa, but no cutomer feedback as yet, and ive found PurePlanet at £1262pa, but this is variable, but with great feedback.

My instinct tells me fixed is always better, as prices go up constantly. Am I right??

Lots of people talking about octopus, but this is showing as £1385pa so a lot dearer.

Thanks for advice peeps(BTW, hoping the switch goes smoothly-Iresa seem to be a nightmare recently)

Matt

If you can tolerate staying with Iresa, their Flex 5 fix is about 5% more than Flex 4. You can still switch within minimum term at no cost, should Iresa get worse...
I went from Flex 3 to Flex 5 last month without problems.

My advice would be to see what you can do to reduce your consumption as well as finding a decent tariff.

We are all electric (heating, hot water and cooking as well) and only use 1000kwh a year more than your electric consumption, you got 20,000kwh of gas on top of that as well.

I'm sure that you could apply a bit of logic to find out who, what and when it's all being used and do summat abou reducing it a bit.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
