Could be a good thing. A step towards the Federation society in Star Trek, where people work because they enjoy it, contribute to society, and they don't use/need to make money.

    I can see practical problems
Anyone receiving the "dividends" would not be able to claim any tax allowances, which the RSA says would act as a disincentive to wealthier earners wanting to apply for the handout.
I have some VCTs and ISAs which grow tax free. If I accept the £10,000 do I have to start paying tax on them and will the companies who administer them have to start sending extra info to the tax man if I do?

While I enjoyed every Star Trek incarnation I find myself giggling like a little girl every week watching The Orville.

Why on earth should they cap it at an arbitrary age and presumably that means that the over-55s have to pay for it?

I find the depiction of science/ laws of physics a little far fetched.

. If the government cant afford to fund the NHS and other emergency services,
The government chooses not to fund the NHS and emergency services as well as education etc.

There are lots of alternatives to the current austerity that the present government loves so much.

Fear not, it'll all be fine, the NHS will soon be getting an extra £350 million a week and brand new Boris hospitals will appear in every town and village that waves the Union Flag with enough vigour.

Don't forget we'll also have sunny uplands, blue passports, innovative jams and pink unicorns at the bottom of the garden.

    Well i'm offended. I'm over 55.:(
Agree, it seems a rather weird and arbitrary age limit. There's some attempt towards an explanation in the report but I don't think they have really thought this aspect through fully.
