Given some of your previous issues I'd be inclined to keep my head as far below the parapet as humanly possible :rotfl:

It's the management team's job to decide whether to decrease headcount - not yours. Focus on doing your job well and hopefully avoiding any future redundancies yourself...

I'm sure you and others have concerns, but I would hope that the MD (or those just below his level) would be willing to chat through these...?

The Directors have their job to do; you have yours. Don't get the two confused. It's unlikely you have the knowledge, or perspective to make the best decision for the business.

A petition to the directors? Saying what?

Do you work somewhere bonkers where this sort of thing is commonplace?

    No. Just no.
    Union official.
    CiPD qualified.

Anything I post is solely MY OPINION. It never constitutes legal, financial or collective bargaining advice. I may tell you based on information given how I might approach an employment dispute case, but you should always seek advice from your own Union representative. If you don't have one, get one!

Daft idea, the MD is not doing this on a whim because they were bored one wet afternoon. A petition will make no difference to whatever market or business conditions are leading to the need to cut costs.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.
