Syncing Mac Mail across iMac & Laptop

This is an issue Ive had for a while but Ive never sorted it out as it wasn't a big deal but now is the time to fix it.

I mainly use the iMac and I can receive emails for both devices fine but where it doesn't work well is when I send emails from either device as they don't appear in the sent folder in the other one. So none of the sent emails from the iMac appear on the laptop sent folder and vice versa.

How do I fix this?

Are you using an IMAP email setup? If so, then it should work as you want it to.

Sorry, should have said. It is IMAP for both so Im little confused why I have this issue.

preferences > accounts > (select the account) > mailbox behaviours

Make sure Sent Mailbox is set to the sent items folder on the email server, rather than On My Mac

Hi Roland, that box is already ticked to 'store sent messages on the server' so it must be something else.

Are the messages showing up if you log into the email provider's webmail interface?

No, its not showing up.

I think you'll maybe need to post a screenshot of the account settings screen, as what you described sounds different from mine.
