Apple website : has anybody else had a problem?

I am trying to reset my Apple ID password for my Iphone 5 and when I enter the date correctly, all I get is an onscreen error message with a yellow triangle This Action Could Not Be Completed Your Request Could Not Be Completed Because Of An Error. Please Try Again Later. Could this be because of a website error etc or a problem with Apple's site or something I am doing? All I am doing is entering my correct Birthday details (which I know are correct).

Perhaps the website is expecting your date of birth in American format (mm/dd/yyyy) instead of dd/mm/yyyy ?
But then again I would expect that the website ought to switch to the appropriate format automatically based on your IP address.0
