Right to buy scheme

Having submitted my right to buy application. Have been told my local city council landlords have destroyed the first 5 years records of my being a tenant. But are insisting I produce evidence of theses dates although it was 26 years ago. I was initially told copies from the electoral register would be sufficient but now they have rejected this as it does not give 1st day of tenancy details. I just cant get them to move on this. They must have info archived somewhere surely.

What about bank statement 26 years ago? Surely it will have rent payment on it?? Did you not keep any paperwork since?0

Even if the electoral registry doesn't indicate the first day of the tenancy, it'll identify the commencement date to within a year at least. How much discount will you lose for that 1 year?0 -
Electricity company? Gas company? TV Licence people? Your bank confirming date you opened account? Insurance company?Employer records? DVLA? Inland revenue? Library ticket? Any post marked letter from anyone?Gather ye rosebuds while ye may0
