Hi, I'm looking for PPI advice. I did not think I had PPI, but someone told me that Mortgage Protection counts, plus top-up loans. It was definitely the case that I wouldn't have been given the mortgage if I hadn't taken out the protection. However, this was from 1982-2007, bus the estate agent, with Bristol and West, who were taken over by Bank of Ireland I believe. Also, I don't have any paperwork as I disposed of it when the mortgage ended in 2007.
Is it worth my trying a claim? Many thanks for any advice.

Its doubtful that any paperwork exists now with your lender either
If none is in existence it is dead in the water.
Its hard to believe that you definitely remember a small part of a conversation from 35 years ago.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Also, if it was definitely the case you had to take it in order to get the mortgage, it can't have been mis sold.0

This won't have been PPI 36 years ago. More likely Life Assurance.0

but someone told me that Mortgage Protection counts,
Mortgage protection is a generic term covering mortgage protection. It could be life assurance, critical illness cover, income protection or PPI. So, whoever told you that is not quite right. It was definitely the case that I wouldn't have been given the mortgage if I hadn't taken out the protection.
1982 is just about before MPPi became available and before the period that the banks went sales crazy. In 1982, life assurance would have been mandatory. Is it worth my trying a claim?
