ALDI self adjusting laser levels - £20

Does anyone know whether these are any good and how they work?

Thanks.

doubt whether they will be great quality at £20 - decent laser levels cost up to about £4000 , but saying that if you are only looking for it for DIY purposes then it should do the job ok.
Basically it works by self -levelling, (gyroscope type thing)to give a continuos level/ line all the way round a room and then either rotating automatically or manually , which you can then measure up/down from to achieve very precise heights.
The only downside to lasers is that are very fragile and need to be recalibrated fairly frequently - but for £20 , you would just buy a new one :D

Couldn't find it on their site, but if it's a self-levelling one likely to be like a letter T with heavy weight on the bottom and laser firing across the top bit of the T (gravity sort-of ensures the top of the T is level).

The one I've actually seen at ALDI some time ago was like a spirit-level with an attached death-ray (laser beam). With this one you checked that it was level (standard spirit-level thing when the bubble was in the middle), then used the laser spot to level up over a distance. Useful for building walls, but just a high-tech version of the (very) old hosepipe trick.

In short, a realatively cheap gadget but maybe more time-saving than money-saving depending on what you want to use it for.

I bought one in LIDL ages ago, a must have for all men. Still in the box in the shed with the other must have tools. It works well enough but do you really need it, stupid question of course you do.
