Parking Tickets ....

One for Martin, although I may br breaking the rules by posting a link to another website. If I am, then I'm happy for Martin to Email me.

Theres literally millions of unlawful tickets given out each year by Parking Attendants. They have exceptionallly limited powers and aren't governed by the police, rather are just 3rd party employees working for a company that holds a contract with the council.

So far I've had 9 tickets in the last 18 months or so. All of which not only were unlawful, I never had to pay a penny and got a personal apology from the Head of Finance for my Borough after the last one.

One to look into Martin, car drivers pay enough tax as it is without being ripped off unlawfully. The site I have found invaluable is http://www.pepipoo.com/

Aside from parking tickets, theres a whole wealth of information on unlawful speading tickets, and most things related to penalising the car driver.

Thought it worth a mention.

Thanks Crabman. I'm really new here and I'm having difficulty navigating properly, seemingly because consumers are being given such a raw deal I''m a little overwhelmed.

I'd be happy to help anyone on here who has had trouble with Parking Tickets - its a pet hate of mine. So quick to hand them out and they just don't listen.

I've heard the phrase "I'm just doing my job" many times. Seems people are willing to do many things you'd usually think twice about normally other than if someone in a position of power / authority has told them to act so. Reminds me of things that I won't raise here, but its never a defence.

I estimate about one third of the lines in my home town are unlawful. If you get a ticket, its certainly worth looking in to. BTW - just by contesting it you cost the coucil more in paperwork than the fine itself. If *everyone* did this then they'd probably curb their revenue generating exercise.

They tell you its to make the roads safer - then pocket the millions each year. I wouldn't even be as bothered if my council tax came down, but in reality it funds them to employ more staf to issue more tickets to ..... well, you get the idea.

    Thanks again .......... Krakers.
