Excess insurance?

when getting quotes for bike insurance say you want a £0 excess, simple really. Im guessing you are getting quotes with a huge excess to bring the premiums down.0

When all you are offeredthat is affordable is insurance with a high excess then they are telling you that they are expecting you to claim - your profile is such that you are a bad risk.
It is not like hire car excess where insurers have recognised the gap between a rip off excess product and the real risk. So on your insurance you are going to find the value of your excess in the insurance market is hundreds whereas the value of excess in the hire car market is 10s of pounds.
It's a different market.
Certainly worth a chat with a specialist broker rather than online sites. Getting an advanced qualification might help.0 -
Funnily enough I do have a few years NCB's and no driving/riding convictions. The insurer has a high excess (this is compulsory/ they don't allow voluntary excess either) and then sells an after care package that halves the excess. I was looking for a cheaper alternative to that after care package. I can get 750 cover from quest insurance for £45 whereas with the insurer it's around £100 extra.0
