i ordered an item from argos last week with a note to view item in store before i purchase it, so the lady brings the item to the desk and its in a brown box with the description printed on the box, she stood there and said "now you have viewed it do you want to buy it?" i replied to her what, all you have done is show me a bloody cardboard box, thats hardly a viewing now is it, she reluctantly opened the box for me
and i went on to buy the item after she sealed it all back up

I tend to stay away from argos if I can just because even if you buy something, open it and it’s not quite what you thought it was, they won’t let you take it back. Example, bought some headphones, quality was poor but not faulty. Had to try the headphones to know this. Silly me told them the truth that they weren’t faulty but that the quality was really poor. They wouldn’t take them back. Also bought a picnic blanket, when I opened it all the way up, it just didn’t look nice like it did in the picture. Again, no refund. Bottom line, if you need to open the packaging to be sure about your purchase, don’t buy from Argos. Amazon so far have been fine with returns like this.0

As to Amazon, then that is their choice & they sell returned goods at a discount.
A quick search also shows that "Tai Chi" has to be added as a manual event.

I've just collected a new laptop from Argos, when it was handed over by the staff I was advised that if there were any problems then I could return it within 30 days, after that I would have to contact the manufacturer. I informed them that my contract is with them as the retailer, not the manufacturer and that I would return it to them should it prove to be faulty within the guarantee period, surely I am correct? This is not the first time I've heard this in Argos, I heard another customer complain that her 2 week old kettle was faulty and she was told to get in touch with the manufacturer. Is this standard Argos procedure on returns?0

Yes and noGuarantee from who the manufacturer or an Argos guarantee or your Consumer Rights .Depending upon the age of the product it can be quicker to go via manufacture if Argos have told you to do that . As opposed to Argos sending it to the manufacturer for inspection .See Consumer Rights sticky.2 week old kettle Argos replace / 7 month old kettle depends and if under CR up to the purchaser to proof .4
