Fair plumber rate in Zone 4 London

I'm outside central london in zone 4. I'm managing refurbishing a whole house & need a lot of small fiddly bits of plumbing done. Around 1-3 days worth. What's a fair day rate to expect for a plumber & what's their work ethic when doing a full day (e.g. number of hours work & breaks)?
I've learnt when doing a lot of work, getting prices per small job results in getting ripped off, even if you get a few quotes. I recently paid an electrician per job & it ended up working out as around £600 for 2 hours labour. and the quality of his work wasn't really up to scratch.
