Once you have a job offer on the table you'll be in a much better position to plan your escape, so to speak.
Until then I think you're correct in keeping out of it. It's not your fight. If that is how the place has been managed over the years then just get yourself out of there as soon as possible.
Good luck with your interview on Thursday. You can have results or excuses, but not both.Challenge - be 14 Stone BY XMAS!

How did it go, Living Bate? Good news, I hope.0

thanks fatrab & Smodlet....
Interview is next Thursday. They wanted to see me earlier but one of the directors has a week off....
I'm getting good vibes about the business though. Just hope we impress each other at the interview
i'll try and check in on here for an update....hopefully in between writing my resignation letter!0 -
Best of luck with it. You sound as if you have a great deal to offer an employer, especially one who is willing to give you opportunities to progress. You communicate very well (sorry if that sounds patronising; I am sure you knew that already
)
Will be back in a week's time to see how it went.0 -
Another factor I forgot to mention is sometime the reputation of an employer is well known so no point trying to pretend if it is clear the new company are aware.
Even in those cases you should try to keep it professional.
eg. OK to acknowledge they are a difficult employer but not to go off on a massive rant.0 -

thanks, i really appreciate that...
working in a place like this can grind you down and confidence can take a bit of a knock...i can see it in the behavior of some of the long term employee's....
i've realised i can't join them in tolerating this oppressive regime..0 -

Yes I am starting to get the feeling that the Chairman and Director do have a reputation within the field. I don't want my name to be associated with their behavior.
I am going to be honest with potential employers that I find the place too unprofessional. And as you suggest, i won't go off on a rant, but i will sprinkle some truth into it.0 -
Yep, know the feeling only too well. You have a route out; some amazing skills. I look forward to hearing your good news and, if for some reason you don't get this job, you will get the next one, or the one after that. Hang in there and just remember you are better than the situation you are in. It sounds as if most of those in authority at your place should be in a zoo!0

Good luck for tomorrow, Living Bate, I am sure you will do fine.0

And with regard to your comment about dinosaurs, that is exactly what they are. They are all past retirement age and their offspring should be taking over the business.......but they just can't let it go....
Let's hope that their offspring don't take too much after their parents then! I've heard some pretty unpleasant stories about "outsiders" working for family businesses - I'd think carefully before joining one.0
