Hitachi Capital - Loans

Hi all,

I've done some reading on MSE and various threads but so far I haven't found the answer to my question. This may be a straight forward answer, so i'm hoping someone can help me out here.

Over the last 4 years I have had 3 loans with Hitachi Capital finance, all applied for online and completed over the phone. Two were in 2014 and one as recent as 2016 - Simply put, are these to recent to have PPI applied too? I only ask as a lot of stories I've read are from the early 90s and 00s.

If its not, I feel like i could well have been mis-sold PPI as everything was done very quickly and various things said over the phone (the money was needed quite quickly at the time).

The paper work I have found so far for the two in 2014 are just 'welcome' letters with my agreement number and payment plan details. The one for 2016 is a e-signed agreement (minus the agreement number) with a few T&Cs.

Can I simply call up Hitachi and ask if there was PPI added? Whats to stop them simply saying "No, goodbye"

I'm just struggling to get my head around the finer details here! Any help appreciated. As O'm happy to claim it back myself then use a 3rd party!

    Legislation.

You won't have PPI on loans from those years.

Have you actually got PPI on those loans?

By 2014 most banks where up to speed on mis selling, i couldve happened but id imagine every ppi seller in the country at that point would be covering their behinds in every way possible.

So if you do have it you probably ticked the right boxes and answered the right questions to make it applicable to you as such unlikely to have been mis sold. Although the fact you dont know about it suggests either it couldve been sold underhand or youre too quick to say yes when youre asking for money.

If you dont have it, you havent been mis sold.

You bought them online. So, no-one sold anything to you. you selected what you had. Are you telling us you dont know?

As it happens, you wont have PPI on those as lenders pulled out bewteen 2009-2011.

Thanks for the quick replies, as the saying goes "If you don't ask, you don't get". I thought it would be worth checking out if there was a simple and quick way!

As i said i started the loan online, to get the basic quote and then they call you to complete. That includes any changes in APR and so on, so there was every opportunity for them to up-sell ;). But as paperwork is nearly all digital now it was hard to dig out the finer details as accounts and profiles close down, i thought it would be quicker to ask here.

But good to know they don't have PPI :) Thanks for the feedback.
