VED on 6 month old car
I've googled this without any success but I expect someone on here will know. If I buy a 6 month old car what is the VED charge as the 1st payment is for 12 months from the previous keeper as far as I can see. The dvla website doesn't seem to address this unless I'm missing something. TIA

VED no longer continues after sale. 1st owner will receive a refund and you will be responsible for VED from date of purchase.
How much you will pay, depends on the car and is detailed on the website."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

If you're looking at the VED banding, then the "year 1" supplement/discount do not apply after the first taxing, even if it's within the initial 12 months. So you'll be paying the "later years" price.
The £40k list price premium applies to all VED bought within five years of first registration.

The key wording there is the title of the two tables...
"First tax payment when you register the vehicle" and "Second tax payment onwards".0 -
Thanks for that AdrianC. It is a main dealer but the 40k won't be an issue!0
