Can anyone tell me the age you have to be to claim the heating allowance for 2018-2019 I can't find it anywhere

Do you mean Winter Fuel Payment ?

2. Eligibility
You qualify for a Winter Fuel Payment if both the following apply:

you were born on or before 5 August 1953
you!!!8217;ll be living in the UK for at least one day during the week of 18 to 24 September 2017 - this is called the !!!8216;qualifying week!!!8217;

The dates quoted by Robin9 relate to winter 2017/2018.

AFAIK the qualifying (i.e. born on or before) date for winter 2018/2019 has not yet been published by the Government.

If you are receiving State Pension, or another social security benefit, you should receive it automatically at the qualifying age-you don't need to claim it.

I'm going to receive state pension from late August however yet again I have just missed out on the winter fuel payment for next winter as the qualifying cutoff for my birthday is early August 2018.

My brother is two years older than me has had the payment for years.....?
