Cancelled credit account

Hi, sorry if this is the wrong page for this query. I opened a cash plus account a few years ago. It’s a prepaid credit card advertised to boost your credit rating. I wasn’t using very much so called in 2016 to cancel but I was sent a new card 2 weeks ago. I called to complain and they confirmed that I did call in 2016 yet they didn’t cancel it and said someone would call me back re the complaint. I also asked for the date on my credit file to reflect the fact I closed the account in 2016. They are being extremely uunhelpful and I intend to take it to the FOS if they don’t come back to etc but wondered if anyone knows any rights around this as I’m extremely hacked off they have kept an account open I requestes to be closed.

You have the right to have the account closed, and the correct information updated on your credit record.

Why are they being extremely unhelpful? You only called them two weeks ago.

Are you looking for compo? If so, what losses have you incurred?

The credit card company have eight weeks in which to respond to your complaint. If you are hoping for some kind of redress other than a corrected credit history I think you are going to be disappointed.

But why are you so concerned that this account was not closed? Until the new card was issued, you were obviously blissfully unaware that the account was still open...
