Stamp Duty

Hi
My partner is about to sell his property that he lives in.
I am just about to sell my property that I live in.
When both are sold we then want to buy a house together.
He also owns a buy to let that is on a buy to let mortgage and is tenanted.
Will we pay the normal rate of stamp duty as we are both replacing our main homes with one property?
Or will we have to pay second home stamp duty as he owns a buy to let?
