JSA - to become self employed?

THey wont give me any money, as I have a small pension, but I need to accrue another 5 years "Stamp" - National Insurance payments
I can find ad-hoc work teaching riding (I'm qualified, but its £275 to register for the year, plus an essential training day every year, as well as maintaining First Aid certificates etc.
Teaching Piano - I'm not qualified.
Eventually teaching Pilates - I an part way through gaining a certificate (which is needed before getting insurance)
Gardening (light lawnmowing, hedgecutting etc), and dogwalking etc.
I am a around 60 years old, with hypothyroid, so limited energy and ability to work outside when its cold.
How does one go about getting your "stamp" paid?
Are there any downsides to my plan?

Were you previously working? If so, up to when? Were you paying NI contributions?
You may be entitled to contribution based ESA or 'new style ESA' (as Universal Credit areas call it now)
We need to know this so that we can advise you what you should be claiming.
Also, are you in a full service area for Universal Credit?
Check here:
https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/universal-credit/before-you-apply/Check-if-youre-eligible-for-Universal-Credit/
Plus (!) what are your current circumstances - single/married/ children/savings etc etc
You could check out a benefits calculation like https://www.turn2us.org. uk to see your entitlements.
Both contribution based JSA and income based JSA would pay NI credits towards your pension.
Not sure what you are asking about as regards self employment - can you clarify?0 -
You live in a "live service" area - whatever that means.
I have used up my "contributions based" JSA 6 months. I last worked in March 2017.
I have asked about the various self employed ideas I have to see if there are any obvious issues with this.
I'm not expecting any money from benefits - only the National Insurance paid. I have too much income and too much savings to get any money.0 -
