Multiyork - Warranty Void?

Hi all, looking for some advice please?
We took delivery of a sofa from Multiyork in September, but actually ordered it in April time. Over the weekend I’ve just discovered they’ve gone in to administration. I’ve called the number on their website and spoken to some rude woman who said my sofa no longer has a warranty and basically it was tough.
I spent £3,500 on the sofa so I’m less than impressed. I paid for it by both credit and debit card(debit card for the deposit, credit card for the remainder)
Has anyone got any experience of this sort of situation? One of the main reasons we went with Multiyork was the long warranty.

If the warranty was under written by Multiyork then it's gone. If it was an insurance based 3rd party warranty then it's valid, I suspect the first.
You still have consumer rights against the Credit card though with S75 protection.0 -
Hi,
If you called the number on the website you have spoken to someone who is dealing with the Administration, unfortunately they are right there is no company left to honour the warranty so it isn't worth anything. The woman possibly didn't mean to be rude but has also probably had to give the same information to hundreds, if not thousands, of other unhappy customers before you, it can wear a person down, not an excuse but probably the reason for coming across as being less than helpful whilst trying to tell someone something they don't want to hear.
You may get a more satisfactory resolution by approaching the credit card under Section 75, if it is applicable under warranty claim situations.
Good luck.0 -
Unfortunately, any warranties or guarantees that aren't underwritten by a third party are practically worthless if the manufacturer or retailer (or whoever is providing the guarantee) goes out of business. There's little you can do.0
