Hi
We are thinking of heading to Majorca for New Years.
Is Palma a town within Majorca? Or are they different places?
I've had a look at flights - want to arrive about the 27th Dec and depart about 1st Jan - I realise booking this late is not going to be cheap.
Does anyone with better knowledge of Europe know alternative airports we could depart from for either trip to save money? We don't mind travelling and could always take a MegaBus trip :j

Palma is the capital city of Mallorca. As far as I know, Palma airport is the only airport on the island that has airline flights.
It may be cheaper to fly to somewhere else and get a ferry perhaps? Although that could make a long trip. Then again for that time of year I imagine flights will be high prices for everywhere.
Not sure where you are from, but you can fly from Stansted on those dates, out with Ryanair and back with easyJet for £122 each. http://www.skyscanner.net is incredibly useful for cheap flights, as is Martins budget flight checker on this site.0 -
Palma is pleasant for a city break in the winter, hotels by the port are well located, some have seaviews with views of the cathedral.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Don't they teach geography at school any more ?
This reminds me about a young couple I sat next to on a flight to Tenerife. They had done no research, thought the flight would only take one hour, and were shocked that it was going to last for over four hours. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

I flew to palma for a 5 day break last year. Its a lovely place though can be expensive in some places. As it its the capital a lot of lovely shops. Only 10 mins from airport and to get about on buses is cheap as well.Plenty of good eating places and bars. Watch some off the prices in the bars as they vary.On the while a great place for a beak. Wish it was me going back.0

Their geography is OK,but they had read too many time travel books, and believed that the aircraft travels in excess of 2000 miles per hour!
Right then,I'll get me coat.:rolleyes:0 -
Thanks for your response guys!
Is there a bus from the airport into the city? Or train?
Can anyone recommend any hotels?0
