Credit/debit card surcharge....

I booked a holiday with Sandals on their UK website back in May last year. I paid the deposit by card and was charged a fee.
Since the new regulations and ban on credit/debit card fees in January this year I was expecting my (rather significant) balance to be free of any fees. However I've just gone to pay and they are still charging a card surcharge.
I do think I read somewhere that contracts formed before x date would be subject to the old T&C and surcharges could still be charged, but I can't find it now.
Can anyone help. I am happy to pay the surcharge if that's what the legislation governs but likewise, could save a large sum by not having to pay it if I can link the relevant information to them.
Thanks in advance.

I think you're right in that as the contract was made prior to the introduction of the legislation they can still impose a surcharge.

Yes, there is nothing in there regarding deposits made before the change and final payments made after.0 -

See point 2.6 in particular - ' The amendments ... apply to charges made on or after 13 January 2018, except for charges under contracts entered into before 18 July 2017'0
