Safeguard Tariff
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-43022840
More government interference which is out for consultation and which will require a change in the law should it go through.
Government has announced plans to allow data sharing with energy companies of people who are on certain benefits.
According to the report, those identified will be automatically moved to the Safeguard Tariff - could this mean an increase in energy costs for some?

Energy bils are unafordable for people on benefitrs its not surprising its a problem.Someone who is on Jobseekers allowance at £73.10 a fortnight is going to struggle at £60 a month. This is interesting that the government proposed this but introduced council tax reduction instead of often a zero charge, the bedroom tax, frozen benefits and a harsh sanctions regime. Not everyone on benefits are out of work also there is child benefit for example.
It could start the something for nothing debate which isn't helpful as when the lives of those that have been looked at involves some form of disability such as learning/physical age can be a factor as well as other history.0 -

I would hope that The Information Commissioner will give an informed opinion on whether he feels that some of the newer/smaller suppliers have the necessary people and systems in place to protect this data from 3rd party exploitation. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
