Old Style Daily Sunday 11th February

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's very dark and windy out there this morning. I've just let the dogs out and they couldn't wait to get back in the warm again. Bobby has settled in really well and Max seems to be ok with the new situation.

Half term is here so I have the pleasure of the girls company for the next week. I am worried that there will be arguments which stress Becky out a lot. I suppose we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

Steve is in charge of the kitchen today and we are having roast pork loin for lunch. I have to make a few cakes for my friend as well so will tackle that job either this afternoon or tomorrow.

I've been reading everyone's news but haven't felt up to posting. I'm struggling with my own black dog (not Max :)) and it is hard to keep a brave face on.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning everyone

Thanks for starting us off dumpling.

Sorry to hear that you are struggling with ‘the black dog’ dumpling. You have been under so much stress that it’s not surprising. Please take care of yourself. I hope that half term goes better than you are anticipating there are not any arguments. Take care. X

Csarina I was so sorry to hear about your friend’s daughter, she was so young, it is such a tragedy and so sad.

I had a lovely day yesterday, doing not a lot. I did clean the bathroom and change my bedding, but after that I spent the day reading and watching a couple of films I had recorded.

Today I have a neighbour calling for me to help her with some paperwork. I don’t think that will take too long, it is just completing some Power of Attorney forms.

Then I need to get a bit more housework done, and if the weather isn’t too bad would like to go out for a walk this afternoon. I find it difficult to be indoors for more than a couple of days, I do like to get out in the fresh air.

I hope that you all have a good day whatever you are doing.
  • Good Morning chums, well I have managed to get logged back in on my lap-top, yesterday's fiasco seems to have sorted itself out at least, so I am still amongst you all:):):)

This afternoon I am off with my DD to my DGD Katie's baby shower :) her friend arranged it all, and its at a local hotel.
Then tonight at DDs for dinner as usual.

Tomorrow night I am using my 'freebie' birthday voucher from a pub chain to have my dinner. I had two sent to me, one from a Beefeater, and one from a Brewers Fayre, both local chains that I have loyalty cards with :) I had delicious fish 'n' chip on Friday at one, and will probably have chicken tomorrow night at the other :) Tuesday night is quiz night so no cooking for me to do before Wednesday :)

Dumpling, I hope things brighen up for you today, you are doing such a fantastic job holding every one together .

The weather looks pretty damp out there at the moment, hopefully a bit warmer than yesterday ,boy was that wind bitter.

I hope everyone has a good and peaceful Sunday.

Mine will follow its usual pattern this morning .Prep any veg for the week, menu plan (that won't take long this week )whiz around the sitting room with the hoover.Sit and do a bit of knitting whilst listening to The Archers :):) Its one mad round of excitement in my house on a Sunday morning :):)But I do relax with a large pot of coffee at the same time :)

Have a good day chums and keep warm and well wrapped up

    Morning everyone

dumpling - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH and I up enjoying first peaceful cuppas of the day, DS1 didn't come in until the early hours so not expecting to see him anytime soon, DS2 still in his pit.

Dinner last night was pizza, chicken portions, chips/salad and coleslaw/pasta salad. Today we're having roast lamb etc. I will organise pack ups whilst the lunch is cooking and probably not do much else, as I'm now full of cold. I'm hoping to feel fit enough to go to work tomorrow, we'll see. I'm dosed up with meds at the moment.

Heating engineers arrived and got stuck in, I'm really impressed with the new boiler, it's much easier to use/control the temperature than the old one, and I had to keep adjusting the temperature and we very nearly turned it off at one point last night as it was so hot it was becoming uncomfortable - it just goes to show how inefficient the other boiler had become when it did work! The heating has come on this morning and soon got us to a comfortable temperature, the electrician is coming tomorrow to install the thermostatic controller - it's a portable one, so once that's installed the job will be finished.

    Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone and thanks for the start Dumpling, am sorry to hear that you are struggling at the moment, please take care m'dear x

Felt rough yesterday evening so took myself off to bed at 8.30, not so bad this morning but do feel like I am fighting off a bug all the time :(
Today we are meeting youngest DSS and his gf for brunch, DOH had a great time at the footie yesterday and the result came out the right way so nice for what was his Christmas present.
Other than that no other plans, will get over and see my lovely girlie at some point, not sure about riding as very windy and cold.

    Enjoy your Sunday's folks x
  • Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off dumpling, sorry to hear that you are struggling

Csarina I'm so sorry to hear such sad news

Went shopping yesterday, when will I learn not to go on a Saturday.

Bright and sunny here, bet it's cold, but hope to have a walk.

Nothing much planned. Will get in touch with DIL, maybe we can see DGS this week as it's half term, fingers crossed.

    Take care
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.
  • Morning folks and thanks DUMPLING for kicking off. What weather we are having! Last night the wind got up and the rain started. I could hear things blowing around outside. Woke up this morning to snow and they have forecast more snow showers throughout the day. Spring is a long time coming despite the signs in the gardens!

Yesterday turned into a cba day and I fear today will be the same. I blame the weather as I just want to snuggle on the sofa with my big fleece!

I raided what was left in the Christmas meat stocks last night and got a nice big pork tenderloin fillet out to defrost for dinner today. I shall do that with roasties, veg. Yorks puds etc. I shall make sure I do enough to have leftovers tomorrow.

Have a good day folks and, as always, ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, carers, sad, worried and lonely. Thinking of you DUMPLING. It's hard for you trying to cope when you feel so down yourself. My thoughts too are with CSARINA's friend and family. Their lives have been turned upside down and will never be the same again. Take care all xx

  • Morning all
Thanks for the thread Dumpling hugs for you nd anyone else in need. Csarina, such sad news.

We have a lovely sunny day today which is nice as we have visitors today, the boat had a thorough bottoming yesterday ready for the visit. The multi fuel stove is lovely but makes everywhere very dusty.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Good morning all, it's fine, sunny, and windy here, but I don't know about the temperature. Don't suppose it's up in the 20'S.

I'm late this morning, I seem to have been awake for a good part of the night.
Sorry you're feeling down Dumpling - I hope you'll feel better soon, and that your week ahead is not too fraught.
HH, hope you get out for your walk, I know I get a bit stir crazy if I'm in for a couple of days.

i bought a half leg of lamb yesterday, so that will be our evening meal.

Have a good day everyone, hope Lainey and TA pick up a bit, and anyone else who is not 100%

    Take care folks.
  • Could I join you all please? I have read this thread for the last year or so. I was widowed very suddenly 18 months ago and am feeling in need of some "virtual" friends. Hoping to downsize and move locally this year to be nearer shops, buses etc.
