Local Service Compliance letter?

Husband and I had to claim Universal Credit last week for help with rent and CT, long story, husband diagnosed with epilepsy in January, can't drive so can't work, and he's on the sick for the time being until his meds are sorted.

Daughter (20) received a letter this morning telling her to go in for an interview and if she doesn't go it will affect her benefits.

She's never claimed benefits in her life?! She's down as living with us and they know her income which can be backed up with her wageslips. Surely this has to be a mistake?

She's going to worry about this all weekend now as she can't ring them till then which won't help her anxiety :mad:

What exactly does the letter say?

First thoughts

Do you and daughter share the same first initial and it is actually for you? Is there an NI number on the letter?

Someone's made a mistake!

A query about your daughter's income (DWP can assess information from HMRC)

Something else?

Am presuming they are using a non dependent deduction for any housing element in your UC claim?

To be honest we would only be guessing so your daughter will have to telephone them to find out.

As always, if you have done nothing wrong then you have nothing to worry about.

we didn't put on our UC claim, just her first name and surname as that's all it asked for. It didn't ask for her NINO on there either.

Yes, they have her details and her wage bracket, which can be backed up with her wageslips. They haven't asked for them yet, we had our interview at the job centre last week and have our appointment with the work coach next week (even though we both have jobs *sigh*)

It says on the letter they want to review her benefits and circumstances and if she doesn't go to the interview, they will stop her benefits. Bit hard seeing as she's never claimed any!

I'm wondering whether somone has claimed something with her name and her NINO at another address, and because she's named on our UC claim as a non dependent, it's flagged something up?!

I guess we'll have to wait till she can ring on Monday - I'm really angry though that they can send these letters out with FRAUD on them, to people who have nothing to do with the benefits system! She's always worked since leaving school :mad:
