Why? Cam belts cost only a few hundred quid to replace typically and many cars are on 100,000 mile intervals, my Mondeo is on 125k. Is a £300 bill per 100,000 miles really worth bothering about? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
don't get too hung up on VED costs. Difference between £280 a year VED and £100 VED is about £15 a month. The 1.6 Hyundai Coupe is normally £240 VED a year not £280.
Autotrader allows you to search by Coupe and specify the VED cost. Don't expect to find anything for around the price of that Hyundai though. Sporty Coupes of that age and low VED rarely go together.
Why not buy the one you linked to, MOT history looks ok car looks tidy, worth a look if it's what you are after. Only down side is that it is the 1.6 engine so 11.9 0-60. the 2.0 would be more fun to drive with VED of £280.0 -
Havent checked tax but heres some options
Citroen C4 VTR

Another option would be a Ford Puma 1.7 (if you can find one that not got rotten arches)
I would avoid the obvious one at this price point - the RX80 -
Be careful about mods to this type of car. The one you listed has xenons are these standard? If not you will fail an MOT and may invalidate the insurance.0

I'd be going for the 2.0 litre if i was going for a Hyundai Coupe0

What’s a clever coupe and why a chain driven cam?Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

why a chain driven cam?
Probably stuck in The Olden Days, when a camchain would last the life of the engine*, rather than 30,000 miles and need the engine out to change it..
* technically they still do last the life of the engine, as the engine is scrap when they break, but I meant the 250,000 mile life of the engineI want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)
