Fixed fees and confirmation/probate

Hi.
What would you consider a reasonable fixed fees solicitor's quote for the confirmation process (Scotland - aka probate in England and Wales)?
The estate is roughly £250k cash + £200k property.
The quote I've been given is 3%.
Doubtless I could do it myself, but for various reasons would prefer to instruct a solicitor.
Thanks.

Extortionate! Ask for quotes based on the work actually done.FinanciallyPerplexed wrote: »Hi.

Thanks for that. It's hard to tell. The quote is from the legal services arm of a well-known funerals (and groceries) organisation.0

No surpise there then! Shop around independent firms and ask for personal recomendations.FinanciallyPerplexed wrote: »Thanks for that. It's hard to tell. The quote is from the legal services arm of a well-known funerals (and groceries) organisation.0 -
For a property plus cash the forms are quite straightforward. Why do you need to pay someone up to £15,000 to do this for you?0
