Walking up the Eiffel Tower and cheap tickets

Just nipped onto the Eiffel Tower website to see how much it would cost to go the top, it comes out at 50 euros for us both.

This seems very expensive, are there any special booklets of promos to get these cheaper.

I would actually like to walk up most of the way to the top. I assume this option is only available at the tower, which would involve us queing.

Trying to avoid the crowds, queing if at all possible. Wed at 9am seems pretty quiet according to Google "Popular Times".

To be fair, the price also includes a return trip to the bottom.

You can't walk to the top. The stairs finish at the second stage. You can can get elevator tickets from the second stage to the top.
