Overdraft - worth applying in branch?

Options
Hi,

I currently bank with Halifax and have been unsuccessful whenever I've tried to apply for overdrafts through the internet. I do have a pretty bad credit rating so I'm certain that this is the stumbling block, I was just wondering if it would be worth my while going into a branch with some documentation (payslips etc) and applying that way? I take home around £1200 per month (been with employer for several years), have few direct debits and still have a fair bit of disposable income once rent etc is paid as they will be able to see on their records.

Thanks

Overdrafts with the halifax are automated so staff are unable to overide the figure shown on the computers.

That said the information is updated each month, so if you get the information one month, worth trying again.

You don't say what account you have with the Halifax as long as its not easy cash then a overdraft can be added if accepted.

What is the reason for the overdraft? Could a credit card be a cheaper option for you?

Payslips won't really add anything as presumably your salary is already paid into your account.

Halifax branch staff CAN seek to have the automated decisions reviewed by a human in certain circumstances (e.g. a high income, a fair amount of savings held with them, guaranteed payment due to come into your account...). Even outside of these circumstances the branch can raise an appeal against the decision if they strongly support the application - though an adverse credit rating is likely to count significantly against you.
