I have discovered a few old Five and Ten pound notes. Does anyone know if I can still exchange these at banks?
Many thanks

If you go to your bank they will do it for you, that's what I did with mine0

Thank you, Was there a cut off point at any time or are they definitely still doing it? I have looked online but haven't been able to find anything.0

Old fives are no longer legal tender as of last May, so you're relying on a bank's goodwill to change these. Some may accept while others refuse, and you may also get some cashiers that decline and some that accept within the same bank.
Old tens remain legal tender until 1 March, so all banks and shops will take these until at least that date. Most if not all banks will then give a grace period, but the length varies.
If you have no luck with the withdrawn notes, the Bank of England will exchange them at any time. See here: https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/banknotes/exchanging-old-banknotes0 -
I found an old £1 note but the Co-op bank wouldn't take it, even as a donation to charity. (I didn't expect a personal payment).0

The phrase purse and moths comes to mind......
When did £1 notes go?- a while ago I'm thinking....;)
However a charity shop such as Oxfam would be pleased to get it I'm sure (or any other charity shop that accepts foreign / old currency.)Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

£1 coins were introduced spring or summer of 1983.
About a year later, £1 notes stopped being legal tender.0 -
