    mrcol,

    Eactly so!

I can't see why Hermes won't contact eBay directly but want me to act as middleman.

I've gone to a lot of trouble on this. When I asked my buyer to contact eBay, he replied that the £10 at stake wasn't worth his time.

The address is a country lane with no other houses nearby. So mis-delivery is unlikely. Maybe the courier decided to keep it. No real investigation and we don't hear about the thefts.

    Still possible

We live in a country lane.

A few weeks ago we came home to find a parcel on our doorstep for someone not in our lane.

Luckily there was a phone number on the parcel so we rang them and they came and picked it up.

    Thanks mrcol.

I've just spoken to ebay again. Their view is that it may or may not have been delivered. That Hermes stating "deemed lost" is not the same as "lost". Just a business convenience for them. They gave me a tel no. to call Shutl.

    ADVICE FOR OTHERS

    Phone Shutl 0333 999 3126

instead of clicking the tracking link to Hermes help, which is webchat.

Shutl are going to get Hermes to investigate properly, then inform me of the outcome. Either it will have been delivered or I'll get a claim form.

Thanks to everyone who commented on this thread.

To be honest, I am not sure why you didn't get in touch with Shutl in the first place. You have to think about who you contracted. You contracted Shutl, they contracted Hermes. It is nothing to do with Hermes or ebay directly. It is do to with Shutl.

Back to your original issue. I'm not 100% that your case has been escalated by you and closed in your favour? It should have been, based on what you've said, the feedback will also go. Account protected.

Then, proceed with the claim with Shutl.

If Shutl refund, you can refund the buyer. If they don't, it means they concluded the item was delivered. End of.
