Bathroom tile choice

Hi All

This is going to be personal choice, obviously!

But tiling bathroom floor in one colour/design, would you do the same tiles in the shower cubicle, or go for something different, or just use plain white in there?

I dont want to do all the walls, so intend to paint these in a eutral colour.

I use a lot of Porcelanosa large format tiles for modern or Fired Earth for tradional, but WallsandFloors are really good. Porcelanosa should guide you to a similar floor tile. Whatever they do, the second word of the name is the colour. You cannot go wrong picking wall and floor with one part of the name the same.

On shower walls. We colour matched the blue in the tile to walls which also matches a Britton sink unit. Very sweet. I like the Britton blues as they are uncommon, grey is very fashionable and wallsandfloors have really good prices.

A little off track, but are you having a large heated towel rail/radiator?

If so, consider tiling behind it. They are a pig to paint behind!

Also consider who may use it - if you have partially sited relatives who may come and stay, you could do with tiles (in the shower) which are easier to distinguish from the rest of the floor - especially if there's a step into it.

What type of design do you have in mind? I would say if it's not a busy patterned tile, you could match whilst you're only tiling the shower portion of the wall.

We have a non slip floor tile that looks like wood on the floor and then shower and half of the bathroom walls in a cracked subway tile.

I'm doing both bathroom and en suite, but wanted to not have lots variation in designs, so thinking same tile in each.

Bathroom (was bedroom), 2.5m x 4m, with bath on plinth one end, below window, with opposite to this,1.4m shower screen, open at end, near doorway. Thought the tiles laid as shown on wickes picture, in 'squares', would fit ok in such a largeish space.

En suite is 3.5m x 1.5m, with shower filling 1.5m wall, opposite window. Lay the tiles in line with each other here, though.

will have towel radiators, but also underfloor heating.

Polished porcelain on the bathroom floor?

High risk of slippage, plus water marks on the tiles. That will be worse that a black kitchen worktop. We had black polished porcelain in our kitchen once, we replaced it very quickly. It was not practical.
