I would just give the telephone number.

It is none of their business what her relationship is with you and they have already broken the DPA by talking to you about her debt.

It would help for the future if you could let us know when the debt was last paid. We can give you a Stature barred letter for her if needed.

Or we can post you up a Consumer Credit Agreement letter if that is more appropriate.

Could you get DD to come on her and get support in her own right? She will find people who understand debt and the issues round mental health as well.

Have not posted you the OFT Guideline link as it is a PDF, and I assume that your reader does not work with them?

Copy of OFT Guidelines - read this lot and keep a copy to hand. Then you can quote chapter and verse if they ring you.

Following link will take you to a downloadable pdf version of the Office of Fair Trading Debt Collection guidelines, to which DCA should adhere:

  • I have sent off the letter and now wait. I have had 3 calls i the past week, but they seem to come via BTs 1571. I don't really understand this as Ive not been on the phone when they have called, but teh message says its a voice text or something like that and then reels off the spiel about the urgency of the mater.

A vile way they use of contacting people. Just don't reply to them, really, don't! But you might want to jot down when they called and what the message said, and passing them on to the OFT. It is against the rules to keep contacting you after they've been notified that you're not the debtor. They could lose their consumer credit license (dare to dream).

Heh, RAS, glad someone else uses 'the bible'. It is seriously a useful document, especially because it is written in plain english.

Hope you are staying calm and unruffled. If you ever do get a call from them you can have a bit of fun tormenting them if you feel up to it?!
