What would happen if you had taken out a policy with £2000 cancellation cover but the holiday cost £2500. Would they pay the £2000, proportion the amount back or pay nothing - Thanks

They pay out up to the limit set (different cover on your policy will have limits for a claim - eg loss of property/health costs etc)0
