O/S Daily Thursday 8th February 2018
This is an !!!8220;over the garden fence!!!8221; type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It!!!8217;s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we!!!8217;re going to do today or what we!!!8217;ve achieved already. Everyone!!!8217;s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn!!!8217;t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don!!!8217;t post large pictures, or clip art !!!8211; links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don!!!8217;t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x JackieO hope you have a lovely day being spoilt yesterday x
Still dark, very cold and very frosty.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly, he has college today.
Dinner last night was a delicious chicken in country sauce, with HM egg and veg fried rice, clean plates all round. Not that sure what we'll be having tonight but will sort that later. First thing this morning I'll be heading into town to visit the bank and building society then onto mum and dad's to sit with mum so dad can go and do some jobs in town and do some food shopping. There's a couple of people coming to mum's today, 1 x morning and 1 x later in the day to assess her needs/therapy etc, so I'll be making sure they get a true idea of how she is and not let dad tell them it's alright and he can manage, (in the nicest way of course).
Yesterday work was pretty manic again, so was shattered when I got home last night, pleased to be on days' off now until Monday.
Had text from boiler people yesterday to ask if they could come on Saturday not Friday - it doesn't really make any difference to me but just means on Friday I can make sure all the washing, drying and ironing is done up to date and I can do my normal Friday jobs on Friday.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It still feels bitterly cold but forecast to reach the dizzy heights of 5 deg later! Wow!
Just having a peaceful coffee before wakening the DGDs then let the fun begin! Starting with "cafe" breakfast where they all want different! By 8.15 when they are getting bundled in the car I am a frazzled wreck. They are back again tonight after swimming & diving and of course it's the usual Pasta Bolognese Bake. I could make it in my sleep but they never tire of it and woe betide me if I made something else!
I got my hair cut yesterday at last and feel so much better for it. Plus it's easier to manage. The snow episode wasn't mentioned by either of us although I was really annoyed with her at the time as some of you may remember!
The Thursday shop to do later. Just Aldi I think as determined to eat from the freezers and keep the shopping bills down. Just F & V and dairy stuff needed I think.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for all who need them. Take care all xx ps welcome to the new addition to the family DUMPLING! JACKIE glad you had a lovely birthday."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone
Another frosty icy start to the day here, the temperature is currently -1, so cold enough for me, but not as bad as some of you are experiencing.
It's good that you are pleased with your hair cut TA. It was worth going back to her to get your hair done by someone you know does it how you want it. Although not turning up that day was not acceptable.
Enjoy the new family member dumpling, it sounds really exciting, I’m sure that Bobby will quickly settle in with you all.
Nelski it’s good that you had a better day with your mum and have found a way of dealing with her. Re the sleeping, I don’t really function on such little sleep. I’m walking around like a zombie most of the time.
I did manage to get out for a while yesterday, and have a wander around the park. It warmed up enough for the paths to become safe by mid-morning. I’m glad I went out yesterday because it is forecast to be really cold all day today.
Today I will make some sausage rolls and quiches ready for a tea that I have promised to make for my brother’s birthday tea next week. The more I can get done and in the freezer ahead of time the better.
Stay warm everyone and have a good day whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning all
Very sharp frost here this morning it almost looks like snow but no such luck !
Off to work for me but I can see the weekend peeping around the corner.
Something and chips for dinner tonight will go and look in the freezer after this I think there are some fishcakes in there.
Need to put a wash on tonight and will have a sweep through and general tidy.
Dumpling I meant to say I am so excited for your new arrival :j have fun and enjoy him.
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Morning, and thanks Nmlc. Dry and cold here, but it's not as cold as yesterday, it was bitter.
NMlc, it's good that you'll be able to talk to the professionals coming to your Mum's - you'll be able to give them a clearer picture, your Dad is in the middle of the situation and won't see it as clearly.
TA, glad you managed a haircut, it's a nice feeling.
Yesterday seemed to slip away from me, I didn't get any sewing done. I went to the shops because I'd bought a dressing gown in M and Co's sale but when I tried it on at home it was a strange shape - tight round the upper body, and a bit too voluminous in the lower body. Mind ,I know I'm not exactly shaped like Miss World but even so....anyway I changed for a nice top,
Spoke to Ds in Oz last night, it was Thursday morning there of course. Their temperatures are in the 30's at the moment, I just can't imagine it.
Today it's the usual stuff, and might pop down to Dd's.
Take care folks, and keep warm0 -
Morning all and Blimey it is a cold morning! It is getting light now. Overcast and gloomy, I am just waiting for the spring now. I do have bulbs outside that are coming up nicely and some indoors on the kitchen windowsill so I look at those each day and think springy thoughts.
I'm glad you had such a great day JackieO, you are truly blessed with your loving family.
Dumpling, lucky you to have another little dog joining your family, I hope Becky has a better day today.
Today I'm working, paperwork this morning (at hone) and then I need to travel to see someone in a nearby town. We have a piece of work to do together and then that's the end of my working week. Yesterday's work went well, good outcomes for children, which is what I aim for.
I have slept quite well but somehow seem permanently tired. I hope it is just this winteriness which seems oddly neverending.
My DS is off to the States tomorrow to spend three weeks with his lady, he spent a lot of yesterday afternoon packing stuff with his dad's help. He's not a natural packer, the look on DH's face was er interesting. I'm not quite sure why our bed was the natural place for doing packing but hey ho.
I think I'll have some toast now, then get on with the day.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possibleI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good morning folks.
After the heavy frost yesterday today is much milder. :j
Last night I managed to clear the decks of my non-work related paperwork which comes in every month. Think I was motivated by sitting next to the stove, even went to bed so much later than I’ve been used to this winter.
My plans for today are simple - drive down to Glasgow.
I hope everyone has a really happy Thursday.0 -
Morning all.
Trust me to be different. Weather wise its as cold here as it was yesterday.:o. Sky is just dull and overcast. Yesterday was sunny and bright.
Youngest didnt come home last night....well he came home for his tea and cleared off again. I think a woman was involved cause he didnt come back. The house was so quiet without him. Hes pretty quiet anyway but I hear him tip tapping away at the keyboard.
Not sure what im doing today but I might start on a few windows. We will see.
Onwards and forwards
Have a great day allThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I shall go in a min after my cuppa as i am off to get a pedi as i had red glittery nail polish at xmas and i cant get it to come off i usually only have a pedi as a treat but needs must as its looking a bit chipped now.
Dinner tonight for the boys pork strips and veg and chicken for me .
Have a great day whatever you are up to and stay warm and safe x0 -
Morning everyone and thanks for the start nmlc, hope that there is positive news from the visits to your parents today.
Cold and bright here too, we are off out to Bury St Edmunds this morning to take a few bits to the dump and then on to the SM for a weekly shop, the fridge is reassuringly empty so the meal planning is obviously on target.
The meal out with pals was lovely if a tad expensive  but it was my friend's choice and she is going through tough times coping with brain cancer. We sat at the table until nearly 4 so made the most of our time there anyway.
Glad you are happy with your hair TA they don't call it a woman's crowning glory for nothing, if your hair feels good so do you.
Have a good day folks x0 -
Lets try again....... Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Bad night 3am again.......
Chiropodist coming this morning, I have having first dibs as I need to go to Aldi and Morrison.
OH managed to do a round walk instead of going so far and then turning back, he is getting stronger, just wish he would eat a bit more.
We saw C in our neighbours garden, she came round to us when she had finished and OH directed operations putting the manure on the deep beds, she also did a bit of weeding. The garden is starting to wake up from its winter sleep.
Its fine no frost we are forecast a high of 9c today........can we cope I ask myself!!0
