still not heard about SDP claim

I got the form 2 or 3 months ago to basically say that I lived by myself. I sent it back and I have heard nothing. Is there a number I can call to check on it?

Social worker said there is a chance they won't award me SDP now because it is almost time for the benefits to change to working credits or something, is this accurate?

SDP is a premium paid ontop of Income Related benefits, so if it's ESA you claim then you'll need to ring them. If they haven't recieved the form you sent then ask them to complete the IS10 form over the phone.

Your Social Worker is wrong about the advice they gave you. The change to Universal credit won't happen for another 2-3 years unless a change of circumstances forces you to move accross. When the change does happen there will be a payment protection in place that will make sure you're not worse off than when you were claiming those legacy benefits.

I phoned today, turns out I was already receiving SDP- they had just added it onto my ESA. They said it wasn't backdated and if I wanted it backdated I would need to write and request this.

So I've been receiving SDP since Nov 2017, but I've been eligible for it since Jan 2017. Will they pay me SDP for Jan 17 to Nov 17?

What address do I write to?

Yes, it's added onto the ESA. How much ESA do you get per week?

You can ring them back and request the backdated money and they will check you qualified for the months you say they owe you money for.
