Barclays phone insurance questions

Hi there guys
I recently bought an iPhone X on contract and never had a phone insurance! so as this device is expensive, i would like to buy one aha
. Okay first question, how does Barclays tech insurance work. I read through their website and T&Q's but one question i have. If my phone is lost, i would have icloud lock on it for sure! But does barclays also block it? Do they have the right to block it? as i'm with Three. Could you explain to me the whole process?
thanks!

Barclays wouldn't block the handset; you'd likely be required to report it to your network provider within set time frame to place it on the Central Equipment Identity Register for stolen phones.
Have you considered self-insurance? Rather than pay £15 a month or whatever premium it is, put the money away yourself each month & use that to affect repairs / replace the handset if necessary.0 -
I see! why don't get block it though? can't they? Its a bit stupid, i guess. What if it was a Sim free iphone X? wouldn't they be able to block that?0

Barclays won't be able to block anything.
In the case of a SIM-Free handset, you would likely be required to provide reasonable proofs to your network that you own the IMEI (e.g., photo of receipt and the box) to ensure you're not blocking somebody else's device. It can be done.0
