Ive not had a car for 20 odd years as prefer to hire when I need one. Ive been offered an old yaris for free and was wondering how car insurance companies view this.. I cant prove any no claims so what do they tend to do.

You don't have any no claims bonus. If you've not held an insurance policy on any car as yourself or named for the last 1-2 years at least - then you can't say you have any NCB.
I doubt it matters too much. If you've been driving 20+ years, you can still put that when it asks how long you have held your license. Just make sure you put 0 as your NCB so you don't get misrepresent yourself.
Do some quotes on comparethemarket.com and see what prices you can get.0 -
Do you have a partner with a car? My wife's insurer gave me a discount equivalent to full NCD when I left the company car scheme and bought my own car.Ive not had a car for 20 odd years as prefer to hire when I need one.
