Hi brought sideboard secondhand from Facebook, when heating went on, out came the woodworm, went to OFL as manufacturing fault, they didn't want to talk to me as not original owner. Have I got any rights , please help

Probably none at all. Certainly not against OFL. Maybe against the person who sold it to you, though realistically only if it was a business rather than private seller.

Every bit f wood used in furniture production somewhere like OFL will have been kiln dried, it eradicates woodworm and spores of all kinds.

However once in a someones home where woodworm were present it can be attacked. Do you have any reason to believe it was sold new with an infestation?

Timber can have woodworm holes without any actual woodworm, it can be attacked while growing. Little piles of sawdust are indications of a live infestation, holes are not. Treat it with Cuprinol 5Star or Cuprinol woodworm killer.

You have no claim against OakFurnitureLand / JB Global Ltd.

As Mr G says - all the wood used at OFL is Kiln-dried and this would normally rid any infestation...

You could possibly have a claim against the seller you bought from...especially if they are a commercial entity using Facebook to advertise...if a private seller then you MAY have a claim depending on how it was advertised "Fault-free", "Flawless", "Woodworm free", etc. But in all honesty I wouldn't be going down this route.

No.

You have absolutely no idea where the woodworm came from. it has been in someone elses house for however long. How on earth did you think you could claim a manufacturing fault?

Your rights would be against the person who sold it to you, it's very unlikely you'd be able to prove that OFL sold it with woodworm in it. Contact the person you bought it off and tell them, see if they'll give you your money back.

I know there were some people a while back reporting that furniture they'd bought from OFL had issues with drying out when the central heating came on, which would suggest it isn't always as dried as it should be, but I don't recall ever hearing about woodworm.

Did the (private) seller make any comment whatsoever about woodworm?

For private sales the only two things that really apply are:

1) The seller has good title to be able to sell the goods, and
2) The goods are as described.

If the seller advertised the item as not having woodworm then you're entitled to return the goods for a refund; if they were silent on the matter then Caveat Emptor (buyer beware).

It seems to confirm that OFL are aware that they've had a woodworm infestation problem.

But as others say, they only have a duty to the person that bought the furniture directly from them - not subsequent purchasers.

To be fair it!!!8217;s a credit to OFL. I didn!!!8217;t think the used oak that would attract woodworm, thought it was all sapwood rejected by other furniture makers.
