Hammerite or Arc-Rite paint ?

I was planning to buy 5 litre Black of Hammerite hammer paint for about £50 to £60. But I notice that on ebay you can Arc-Rite hammer paint for £30 odd. I've never heard of this paint . Is it any good and is it a good alternative ? or can anybody suggest any other cheaper alternative that is decent.thanks

Never heard of Arc-Rite. It may be as good or better?

You should not need to re-paint any time soon. IMHO stick with what you know do it once and do it right. :-)

The only Ark-Rite I know is the Arkwright in "open all hours" so maybe that and the price are clues!

Arc-Rite Known more in the industrial paint and welding business than diy market, based in Lancs. I have had expeience with automotive coatings but not what you are looking for. Worth contacting direct to get a price.




I recommend Hammerite (Hammered Finish) to my customers but as an alternative I use Rustoleum Hammertone


Both are excellent but pricey, however its worth paying for good quality products

Wickes metal paint is quite good and cheaper than H.

I think Hammerite has changed & is no where near as good as it was 10 years ago.......
Possibly the EU have been fiddling with the composition of it ??
