Rbs plevin claim

On 19 November 2017 I received a letter from RBS stating that I may be entitled to a PPI commission refund.

I filled in an online form and they sent a letter dated 13 November 2017 stating that they were investigating my concerns and would be in touch shortly. They also said that the timescale to reassess complaints was typically 6 weeks.

Eight weeks later I had still heard nothing so I phoned them. I was told that they were still looking into my complaint and would be in touch when it had been resolved.

After 12 weeks I had still heard nothing so I phoned them again. This time I was told that they were in the final stages of my claim but could not give me a resolution date.

I need to know what my next course of action should be.

To wait for them to finishing their investigations.
  • I thought the time frame for replies was eight weeks maximum.

That's the aim. But it's busy times with the Plevin bandwagon in full flow.

That is the period you are entitled to go to the FOS. The firm may require longer than 8 weeks in periods of high activity or where more info is required.

  • How long do you think I should wait before taking further action?
  • Hi,

I have also been waiting since November 17 and have had 3 letters each asking for more time.( 4 weeks at a time).

When I hadn't heard in late January 2018 after the last one I rang and was told the offer had been decided and was on its way and would take "10 days". After 14 days I rang and asked for a reprint as nothing had arrived.

I got my letter finally yesterday and have accepted an offer of just over £2500.
I would advise give them time but if they miss a deadline get on to them and keep them on their toes!

It is now 16 weeks since RBS first wrote to me and still no decision. I telephoned this morning and I was told that they are still looking into my case. I have received no correspondence from them since 13 November and I am starting to feel very angry.

As per the above comment people are receiving decisions a lot faster than I am which makes me even angrier.

The fact that they wrote to me in the first place doesn't help matters either.

How long does it take to decide if someone has overpaid on commission?

Can anyone tell me what I can do next.

The best thing to do next would be to wait.

You need to understand that the refund is of undisclosed commission, not overpaid.

So why are you "angry"? The Banks are overwhelmed by these complaints.

You stop being "angry" and continue to wait I'm afraid.

and I am starting to feel very angry.

    What on earth for?

You know there is a backlog and high demand. This is not something your life depends on. It is effectively a windfall. So, nothing to get angry about here.
