Does the agreement when the first payment will be taken?

We bought a suite on interest free credit where the payments didn't start for 6 months.

We had money coming in 5 months so intended to pay it in full before the credit agreement started.

When we paid it off we received a rather large refund from the finance company. So the interest free credit was because the interest added onto the original price.
