I found and old thread from back in April. It was relating to making towels soft again. The people and that suggested using vinegar. I just wanted to ask a few questions about it.
1 If I use vinegar do I only put that in the wash?
2 Where in the draw do I put the vinegar ( I know I know daft question but just need to be told LOL);)
3 When I wash towels in the furtue is it ok to use powder then vinegar once in a while.
Thank you..
PS I love this board. Though I feel I have nothing to add to it at the moment cos I'm new to all this I'm picking up such fantasitc tips and everyone is so friendly!:D
Thank you
SL

I use it in the fabric softner drawer. Occasionally if I put too much in the towels smell a bit vinegary but not too bad.0

As has been mentioned, put the vinegar in the conditioner drawer, just as you would fabric conditioner.
I use vinegar in every wash I do - I use el cheapo brown malt vinegar and it neither stains your laundry nor does it make it smell of vinegar. Any smell when you first open the WM door goes within minutes.
One distinct advantage of using it in every wash is that it helps remove all the powder residues from your laundry. In case you think your machine rinses properly, try putting a load of towels in without any powder and watch it still foam up!!0 -
I use vinegar for so many things, cleaning etc and culinary. I tend to use the White Distilled Malt Vinegar. Great for windows etc and also did the shower head last weekend with it.
Bought 3 litres from Costco on Sunday for not a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!

The thanks button seems to be not working again.. so thanks! .. So I put normal vinegar white or brown?????? in the conditioner draw with no powder, and my towels will be clean and not scratchy nor will they smell, and it's ok to do this every time I do my towels! wow can't wait now. I'm a bit excited.. I know I'm a bit sad but someone has to be! LOL0 -
Hi Sally
Put your normal powder in the powder drawer and the vinegar in the conditioner bit. I put a good dollop of vinegar and just a splash of Comfort to sweeten the smell. Works a treat.

I use half the manufacturers recommended dose of powder, then a splash of vingar in the softner section and I add 2-4 drops of lavender essential oil because I love the smell of lavender on my sheets and towels
Wash like normal - don't expect miracles first time - it can take a wash or two for all the residue to come off your towels and then they will be fluffy againDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
