Help, Catch twenty two with bank and creditors

Hi there,

I have just started a undergraduate degree course in graphics design and am in a bit of a catch twenty two situation.

I tried to change my current account over into a student account at the beginning of the summer but to no avail due to my credit rating. I am in debt with Argos and now have enough money to clear that debt, thus reseting my credit rating? (Not to clued up on these things). Though if i do this I will have pretty much nothing left to live on until next term unless I have a student overdraft facility.

I had regular payments of money going into my account during the summer after applying for the student account. I just want some advice about what to do in this circumstance? surely the bank doesn't want me to fail my degree as it is them who will be seeing most of my money? is it worth having a chat with the bank manager?

Any advice would be gratefully recieved

Thank you for your time.

Tony
