bmi lost luggage

Hi all
i have just been on a holiday to barbados for a wedding flying with bmi and they lost one of our cases containing our wedding dress and suit.It eventually turned up after 3 days and nearly £100 worth of calls from my mobile to bmi in england as the staff there were beyond useless. As you can imagine we didnt have much of a good time during this time and i think that i am well within my rights to claim back the cost of the room for the 3 days that our holiday was spoiled and also the cost of the calls.
What do you think my chances are of getting anything out of them and what is the best method of going around this
cheers all

Chances - very low, but no harm in trying.

    Were you insured?
    Gone ... or have I?

You should definitely try. You may well be fobbed off but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't give it a go. Many companies rely on people thinking that it is not worth the effort to try for compensation.
We all evolve - get on with it
  • if it wasnt for it being the wedding stuff then i probably wouldnt bother but i am determined to pursue it till the end

The problem is BMI only fly twice a week to Barbados, so they were clearly on the next flight. If you told them at chekc in that one suitcase had a wedding dress and that was the one they lost, and you were getting married before the case arrived, they might just offer somethimng, otherwise how about a claim on your insuarnce policy?
  • they were told at check in that it had a wedding dress in and it had fragile marked all over it by the check in.it never came from manchester in the end it got transferred to gatwick and delivered from there eventually.
has anyone ever tried claiming of the airline and what did you write
  • having fragile on it makes no difference when you are dealing with lost luggage...it just means they're more careful with it at the airport you didn't want it to go to !
did the wedding dress arrive before the wedding ?
what was the agents response at the airport when it became apparent that it hadn't arrived ?
were you told your rights on what you could buy in the meantime to get you by till the case arrived ?
did you have insurance cover for the above ?

all have some bearing on what you may be able to claim but to be honest i don't think they have much liability
